MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION

On September 17 and 18, 2022, the Cité du Train will host a new edition of the Salon du Modélisme organized in partnership with the RAMCAS association. Many activities, demonstrations and workshops will feed this weekend which coincides with theEuropean Heritage Days.

WHEN REAL MEETS MINIATURE

The model-making fair at the Cité du Train - SNCF Heritage (Mulhouse) welcomes every year since 2006, dozens of exhibitors who come to present - at the heart of the museum's collections - their railway networks or their scale models, of all kinds of vehicles (trains, cars, trucks, aircraft, boats, figurines).

Supported by the association RAMCAS, the show also offers many animations and demonstrations: circuit on a train pulled by a live steam locomotive, thermal cars, flying models, construction workshops…

STOCK EXCHANGE

Very popular with collectors and enthusiasts of miniature vehicles of all types and old toys, the traditional exchange event organized as part of the Show will be held both days of the event.

EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS

For their 39th edition, the European Heritage Days (JEP) will have as their theme “Sustainable Heritage”. Created by the Ministry of Culture, this event aims to make cultural and heritage sites accessible to as many people as possible throughout Europe.

 

SNCF, a major player in national heritage, is committed alongside the Ministry of Culture toraise public awareness of sustainable heritage issues in the context of climate change.

 

The Cité du Train, SNCF Heritage Museum invites the public to explore and (re)discover its collections from this angleduring the weekend of September 17 and 18, 2022. On the program: discussion time, rail demonstrations, entertainment for young and old...

 

The opportunity for the museum to introduce the public to the initiatives implemented daily in favor of sustainable development such as, for example, eco-grazing.

AT THE TRAIN CITY

  • Guided tours - Show route:

All public | 25 people max. | About 30 minutes | Departures: 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Free (included in the entrance ticket)

Accompanied by a museum guide, visit the Parcours Spectacle illustrating French railway history through 27 rolling stock exhibited around six emblematic themes. 

 

  • Mediation points* - Railway Panorama:

All public | By small groups  | Approximately 10 minutes per point | Between 10:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. according to displays in the museum

Free (included in the entrance ticket)

Highlighting the theme of the JEP 2022 (sustainable heritage), four mediation points will be offered to you to discuss heritage and environmental issues.

 

  • Guided tour - TGV cabin: 

All public | In small groups | Continuously

Free (included in the entrance ticket)

Throughout the weekend, climb aboard a TGV driving cabin and enjoy comments and anecdotes from former SNCF drivers who are now museum volunteers.

 

  • Railway demonstrations:

All public | In small groups | Continuously

Free (included in the entrance ticket)

In the outdoor area of the museum, come and learn how to drive a train aboard a draisine and discover how level crossings work with volunteer facilitators, former railway professionals.

 

  • Animations* - Sambaldur-Sur-Mou merry-go-round / Alsace Mini-Express:  

All public | In small groups | Continuously

Free (included in the entrance ticket)

Take advantage of our outdoor activities, with the family, aboard the Mini-Express d'Alsace and a fairground carousel from the 1940s, completely restored by museum volunteers. 

 

*Interventions and outdoor activities, canceled in case of bad weather
